What Is NOT Accepted?
The Hamilton County HHW Center isn’t a general dump or transfer station.
Items the county doesn’t accept through the HHW program include:

- Medications
- Oxygen and welding-gas cylinders

How to Prepare Hazardous Waste for Drop-Off
Hamilton County asks residents to sort materials and bring them in boxes or appropriate containers.
Do not bring materials that are:
- Leaking
- Spilling
- Unidentified
- Mixed together
- Loose in trash bags
- Packaged in a way that makes them unsafe to handle
Containers for chemical waste must be 5 gallons or smaller.
When you arrive, remain in your vehicle until you’re in the unloading area and a technician gives you instructions.

Don’t combine chemicals to save containers. Different household chemicals can react dangerously when mixed.
Keep labels intact. Knowing exactly what’s inside a container makes it safer and easier for HHW technicians to handle.
Separate ordinary recycling from hazardous waste. Cardboard, bottles, jars, cans and other regular recyclables use the General Recycling Area rather than the HHW drop-off process.
